Synopsis

Bodying was a 24-hour protest by dance artists held in front of Zagreb’s City Assembly on May 2, 2017. The name blends tijelo (body) and djelovanje (action), highlighting how the body itself becomes a site of activism. This protest featured dance, improvisation, instant choreography, and performative gestures, using physical presence as a form of resistance. Organized by the Zagreb Dance Centre Plenum (Zagrebački plesni centar, ZPC Plenum), the movement involved dancers, guild members, and the wider art community, advocating for an independent dance institution founded on civil-public partnership. Their goal was to demand accountability, transparency, and democratic governance reforms at the Zagreb Dance Centre.
