When the heart stops working, dying begins. Cells left without oxygen "shut down". Some years come when the same giving up happens in social DNA chains, neurons, heart valves... Without clear awareness, society opts for death. The symptoms are obvious, but the soul resists the idea that it will get there. Destruction and lack of compassion are irrefutable proof that something inside, in the human body, has given up the fight.
Contemporary dancers and veterans of the 1991-1999 wars perform in the play. which bear witness to a time that we hope is behind us, but whose consequences are still felt.
The play Thanatos is part of the project The Day After, which was initiated by the Group "Let's go..." (Belgrade) and the Center for War Trauma (Novi Sad). The project is intended for young artists and veterans of the 1991-1999 wars. We believe that veterans have a valuable understanding of the past and the consequences that some decisions can lead to. On the other hand, young people are more focused on the future and hope that something better awaits them there.
