Stanica is an initiative of artists and cultural workers in the field of contemporary dance and performing arts in Serbia, launched in 2005. From the beginning, the work was aimed at strengthening that artistic community, its structuring and recognition, and its integration into the cultural system in Serbia, the Balkans and internationally.

One of the most important goals of the Station is to ensure decent professional working conditions for all active participants of the art scene in Serbia and the Balkan region, through programs of education, professional development, production, promotion, advocacy and cultural policy. Due to the wide range of its activities, Stanica has built a large network of local and international partners: Nomad Dance Academy, Life Long Burning, Association of the Independent Cultural Scene of Serbia, advanced performing arts project and many other individuals and organizations.

Since 2007, Stanica has been working in the independent cultural center Magacin, where it has an office, an exhibition space and a small studio.

We support the development of the contemporary dance scene in Serbia through education, production and promotion of artists, dancers and choreographers.

We fight for and advocate Balkan cultural cooperation, and we present our work through the Nomad Dance Academy network as a successful example of regional collaborative platforms.

We work to improve conditions for independent artists through our activist, advocacy and solidarity actions, raising the visibility of our work and collaborating with the academic community in the field of cultural policy.

We promote contemporary dance from Serbia and the Balkans on the international stage through our collaborative networks and international projects such as Jardin d'Europe, apap - advanced performing arts project, Identity Move!, Life Long Burning and others.

As a representative association in culture (in the field of multimedia and digital arts), we advocate and fight for better working conditions for artists and cultural workers.

Contemporary dance has found its way onto the cultural map of Serbia thanks to our annual Kondenz festival and other forms of presenting artistic works in Belgrade and Serbia.

We produce new work and encourage experimentation, transdisciplinary work and research.
