Synopsis

This is the second authorial project by Ivana Kocevska. The first, “Test for Gravity,” was performed as part of the event “Evening of Contemporary Dance – Presentation of Young Choreographers,” organized by Lokomotiva (Center for New Initiatives in Arts and Culture), in May 2007 on the stage of the Macedonian National Theatre in Skopje.

Through this work, Kocevska continues her research, which is kinesthetic in nature and connected to the utilitarian aspect of kinesthetics—the one present in everyday life. She explores and emphasizes what movement reveals—a reflection of the mind, of thought, of the state in which a person exists. The idea, on the one hand, is to show that movement is an integral part of an individual’s life, embedded in everyday existence, and thus also dance as the art of movement.

“My body is a medium; it projects the emotions and states through which my mind passes. Inspired by kinesthetic movement in my everyday life, by observing myself and the people around me, and by the way we unsuccessfully deal with inner conflicts while skillfully attempting to conceal and camouflage our own shortcomings, I was led to reflect and to undertake a study of how our body and mind function.”

Through a kinesthetic manifestation, the relationship between two bodies (a man and a woman) is presented, along with the conflicts and complexes they carry within themselves, in a shared space…
